Test Drive 2 (Chill Out Edit) - arranged by Dr.Future

Review by Isacco1975, 18/09/2025

It's a good remix, reminds me the last rendez-vous of Jean Michel Jarre in his album Rendez-vous.

Like the mix in general, the synth-metal style. I am not familiar with the tune, but is good and good mixed.

Paperboy - arranged by SoundLogic

Review by LaLa, 13/09/2025

The basic idea is solid. The chosen tempos of the various sections fit perfectly, too. Unfortunately, many of the instruments sound too flat. Also, I wish there was more glue between the various subtunes to make the flow feel smoother, right now the transitions are rather sudden (or non-existent).

Way of the Exploding Fist - arranged by Kent Walldén

Review by Waz, 12/09/2025

Twenty five years since this remix was released, and still as iconic as it was back then. It may not sound as well produced as others, but the whole essence of the tune remains wonderfully intact here, complete with sensible variations on the theme as the tune loops - with plenty of funky drums and some gorgeous instruments to add depth too. Classic.

The Eidolon - arranged by LMan

Review by Waz, 12/09/2025

Depeche Mode meets Lucasfilm Games in this rather original and well crafted remix. The suitable synth and drum crashes punctuate ever so well and gives it a darkwave sinister feel that the original would have had if different instruments were used. Excellent all round.

Knightmare (Valentine 2021 Jam Session) - arranged by The St. Albans Rob Hubbard Fan Club

Review by Waz, 11/09/2025

Steve Barrett's C64 theme tune to the game Knightmare doesn't cover the TV series theme tune either, so what has been done here is an effectively lovely remix of Steve's tune. And it really does pull it off well.

There are some lovely acoustic guitars throughout that flow nicely, along with some subtle use of the piano where needed as well as the main lead having the space it needs to breathe well. The initial slower pace may sound too slow, but this stripped back approach works well to then allow the drums and other instruments to come in at a suitable time.

Thoroughly enjoyable, although may take a few listens to fully get it.

I am the Law (Judge Dredd) - arranged by 7DD9

Review by Waz, 11/09/2025

Plenty of energy and fast pace in this one as 7DD9 gives it a futuristic electronic treatment here, complete with vocal samples. Maybe it needed to sound more Industrial, but nonetheless what is here is well crafted and shows careful handling of the beats and drops with plenty of the original feel still intact.

Smile To The Sky 2025 - arranged by Tony Fluke73 Wiren

Review by Macron0, 11/09/2025

When he said he would make a cover I was worried he would make it too slick. (The genos 2 being a supersmooth instrument) But I worried for nonthing. It turned out super. Even thought the soung has a new coat every little detail I love about the song is there. I am really impressed and sure to be listening to this song a lot in the futere THX Tony and of course Geir for creating the original! This sing indeed changes my mood in a good way every time I hear it

Aztec Challenge (Desert Storm Mix) - arranged by Sven Storm

Review by LaLa, 10/09/2025

The first half of this remix is very much in the spirit of the original game, it has strong character, it has just the right amount of spooky and scary mixed together. After the beat comes in at 1:22 it devolves into average. And I'm not sure what that balalaika is doing in the mix. I wish the energy and the uniqueness of the first half carried over to the second half, too.

Dan Dare 3 - arranged by BeeZerk

Review by LaLa, 31/08/2025

Thanks for posting the instrumental version of this remix, too! Although I think it's more than that: it's not just that the vocals were stripped, but sounds like you added the original melody back in place of the vocals, too. So, big kudos for that! I really like the vibe of this entire remix, can't stop bobbing my head to the rhythm! 🎵

LAST V8 (live yt vid) - arranged by LukHash

Review by Waz, 29/08/2025

This is trademark Lukhash - bold, bright, and uncompromising. The gorgeous synths and drums really do underpin the whole tune wonderfully well - and the involvement of the original game's speech just enhances the feel a little more.

Yes it is loud and in your face, but that's what the original game felt like (not least with those broken controls!) and the feeling comes through very strongly here. Still for me one of those remixes that stands the test of time.

Storm - 2017 Version - arranged by Glyn R Brown

Review by Waz, 29/08/2025

Beautiful use of the piano as ever and with the fast pace that this 2017 version has, it really does still after all these years kick in very nicely.

It sounds like Glyn had plenty of fun with this one, especially the voices in the second part to add a second dimension to that, sounding euphoric trance-like in its way that it all just builds.

The Human Race - arranged by MRT

Review by Waz, 29/08/2025

From the opening section with some gorgeous instruments and feeling of space, the mix develops into a really lovely sense of being somewhat uplifting and yet reflective at the same time. That demo scene-like gentle arpeggio in the background is just the icing on a very nice cake full of surprises. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Agent X 2 - arranged by Tim Forsyth

Review by Waz, 29/08/2025

There's so much delightful warmth in this one, from the precision of those rises and falls that are the Follin trademarks of the original, and being played with gusto and virtuousity.

When you listen to how much Tim has progressed since then, remixes like this show the foundation of what was there - musicality, authenticity and enjoyment of the original that shines through.

One man and his droid - arranged by Dummy

Review by Waz, 29/08/2025

Did someone say One Man and His Droid goes swashbuckling? It's very much of that era of film-making with this one, and plenty of lovely instrumentation and timing to make it go along.

The main hooks and verses are all there - and if the middle interlude Maneater-esque section had been perforrmed, that would have elevated it even higher. A very enjoyable and well crafted listen nonetheless.

(and please do another remix some time Dummy, this one showed so much promise and skill)

Bump Set Spike (Schizo Classical Remix) - arranged by Nicklas Schmidt

Review by Waz, 29/08/2025

From the opening stanza of the main piano having a lovely relaxed feel, and on to the middle waltz part that wouldn't look out of place at an Andre Rieu concert, to the final more bombastic Proms-like show, the way this develops in its arrangement is carefully crafted and skilled. A definite grower with each listen and comes highly recommended.

Action Biker - arranged by Johan Andersson

Review by Waz, 29/08/2025

Clean and concise, and the arrangement works wonders to keep things as fun as the original, which is key here. Lovely use of the guitars too to give it that sligthtly country rock feel and keeping that intact too. I enjoyed this back then and still do now.

Amaurote (Full Sci-Fi Horror Mix) - arranged by Martin Dodd

Review by Waz, 29/08/2025

Take all the dark John Carpenter vibes and add the suspense of all the piano and instruments that culminate in a real sense of panic, and you are on to a winner here. It really does offer something different and highlights also how under-rated the in-game tune by David Whittaker was in the first place.

Won't be to everyone's liking, but I really enjoyed this one back in 2021 and still do now, with a sense of foreboding but for different reasons.

Spellbound - arranged by Mano

Review by Waz, 29/08/2025

Full marks for the originality here - with a nod to the likes of Monkey Island along the way. Take Mexican mariachi, along with Spanish flamenco, mix them up with that sense of being swashbuckling at sea somewhere, and you're taken to a different place. Very enjoyable and crucially, accomplished in its composition and feel.

Dan Dare 3 - arranged by Tim Forsyth

Review by BeeZerk, 08/08/2025

I'm really torn on this one, because it's one of my favorite SIDs of all time. I love the appearance! Production-wise, it's a 10 out of 10 for a 1:1 rendition, no doubt about it. But to be honest, that's not the hardest part nowadays.

What I dislike—or rather, what I miss—is the lack of originality and a personal signature from Tim. I know he's capable of that, because we can hear it after minute 3:12! This SID offers the best foundation, incredible potential, and virtually infinite versatility. Yet this rendition feels only like an effortless direct translation of the original arrangement, and Tim misses the chance to make it truly his own. That’s what makes my heart bleed!

In its current form, it’s more of a crowd-pleaser than a piece of art with its own soul or identity. Nevertheless, it’s still a very good rendition—just not exceptional in my eyes (or ears).

Creatures medley (Torture Mixture) - arranged by SIDNIFY

Review by Scaver, 06/08/2025

This track is one hell of a hardcore ride! Only a few remixers dare to touch Creatures tracks and even less manage to create a quality remix of ’em ’cause these tracks are so difficult to re-imagine to create something new with nice own added value while keeping the punchy and energic pulse of the original tracks. Not only this remix manages to bring a fresh and kicking re-arrangement but it also achieves to include more tracks which is even harder ’cause many times these tracks are of different tempo and tuning. This is one fine example of extraordinary musicmanship and bold attitude. The sound, mixing, mastering, own ideas and the guitar solo are all of special treats. That’s how a real quality remix and medley is done. A worthy tribute to the awesome work of Steve Rowlands. Amazing. Thanks!

Suicide Express 90's Trance mix - arranged by Steve Foster

Review by LaLa, 04/08/2025

This is really good! I don't know where the vocals come from (real singer? AI? sample lib?), but it sounds amazing. My only wish is that it featured more of the upbeat 'dancey' parts, but that's just me splitting hairs. It's a really enjoyable remix as-is.
