Story

This was my entry for Arok 2025.

I find it surprising there aren't more remixes of this brilliant tune from Jereon Tel. It was the very last game I got for the 64 at a time when we were all transitioning to the Amiga. I missed SID music and having found out this game had a JT soundtrack I had to go out to a shop and actually buy it (rather than 'acquire' it).

I cut the opening and (short) end lead to come in dead on 3:30, the compo limit. I found myself with 15 seconds to wrap the track so I added a little funky lead, I think it makes it a neat compact little disco pop song.

Totally should've won the compo at Arok 2025, bar none! Brilliant! I can't stop listening to it over and over and over again! (And yes, I agree: it's quite surprising this groovy JT tune has so few remixes.)

I'm really torn on this one, because it's one of my favorite SIDs of all time. I love the appearance! Production-wise, it's a 10 out of 10 for a 1:1 rendition, no doubt about it. But to be honest, that's not the hardest part nowadays.

What I dislike—or rather, what I miss—is the lack of originality and a personal signature from Tim. I know he's capable of that, because we can hear it after minute 3:12! This SID offers the best foundation, incredible potential, and virtually infinite versatility. Yet this rendition feels only like an effortless direct translation of the original arrangement, and Tim misses the chance to make it truly his own. That’s what makes my heart bleed!

In its current form, it’s more of a crowd-pleaser than a piece of art with its own soul or identity. Nevertheless, it’s still a very good rendition—just not exceptional in my eyes (or ears).
