Last Ninja 2 Back To The Central Park - arranged by JPHReview by LaLa, 18/10/2010 This is a great idea ruined by mediocre instrument choices and so-so mixing. The guitar riffs are absolutely awesome - but pretty much everything else sounds cheap. No effects, no use of stereo space, no nothing. Too bad, because the arrangement is very promising, closely following the original. But overall, this needed more time in the cooker. |

Sweet (feat Gibs) - arranged by MordiReview by NecroPolo, 04/10/2010 Nice work Maestros😊It is a real clash of two personalities, in the good mean. In many aspects, it shows the best of you both: the sensitivity of Mordi and the raw power of Gibs, with a huge respect for the original track. Mordi, this must be one of your most balanced tracks. And Gibs, you have put much more feelings into that than anything I've heard from you. That's what it makes so great for me. It's a fresh breeze of air in the mass of mechanical mixes. That's what outsanding is for. Great sounds all the way but the guitar solo works a little independently from the rest of the sound texture and slightly too much in-your-face in the mix. Some more ironing that into the mix would make it a little sweeter and compressor is slightly over the top here and there - but that's my only rants, just some odd lines of a perfect painting. |

Sweet (feat Gibs) - arranged by MordiReview by LaLa, 02/10/2010 Wow, wow, wow!Be impressed by my triple-wow, because this being my all-time favorite SID, I am especially picky about remixes that attempt to re-interpret it. At first I found the intro a bit too slow, but it's growing on me. The silk-soft lead instrument and the overall softness of the entire production is impressive. It would be hard to top the expressive Yamaha CS-80 lead that Marcel Donne put into his remix, but you've done a great job here, Mordi. When the guitar lead kicks in, it really tickles my heart, makes my legs tremble, tears form in my eyes, and gives me goosebumps - just like it does when I listen to the original SID. Which means that this remix manages to evoke the same emotions in me, and that's no small feat. Also kudos for the beautiful coda you've added to the end, it's such attention to the detail in the arrangement that makes this remix truly outstanding. Thank you, Mordi, for this remix! I'll carry it in my heart forever. |

Ocean Loader 1 (Trancey Blitz Mix) - arranged by dr.blitzenReview by LMan, 28/09/2010 The overall arrangement, which closely follows the original's, does not go along well with the dancefloor beat, making it sound out-of-place. Re-arraning and omitting parts of it might be a good idea. In fact the bass track is barely audible, and the beat kind of lacks the boom and punch. This remix could be improved a lot merely by proper mixing and mastering. |

Remark Remix - arranged by Metal & DraxReview by arbory, 15/09/2010 After finding only trancy and cheesy-cheeeeesy jeroen tel remixes - this one stands out!A great groove with a funky c64 feeling - a track I can listen over and over aigain. the beat at the beginning could really work on a big floor - stomping. the next seqence sounds at first a little trancy - i was - at the point - not sure where this track will take me… but at latest after one minute this track catches you - with this fabulous bass line. at the breaks some c64 style drums bring back some more nostalgia - great usage! the melodic part is easy and light in an typical jeroen tel style arrangement. But Metal&Drax do not only bring this Maniacs of Noise mood to life, the made some truly new track out of it! it sounds very smooth and organic, so i can easy imagine a live genius playing and squeezing a synth (and maybe even with a whole combo jamming like mad) one of my absolute favorites c-64 remixes! |

Don't get me wrong, I like the slowed down tempo, but I question some of the arrangement choices. Like, how it fades out in the end - the original SID has a very well-defined ending, and I quite like it that way. Also, a few of the chord changes seem to break up the flow of the tune.I am also put off a tad by the whiny thin lead. Some fat pad would've helped enhance the mellow feeling. So, I'm torn on this tune, it has its ups and downs. |

Cybernoid II (Lime on 45 Remix) - arranged by TronReview by LaLa, 08/09/2010 Absolutely surprisingly fresh and well-executed remix of Cybernoid II in the style of 70s disco with some modern twist to it!The unique arrangement is what really makes this remix shine: the rhythm section, the way the round original tune and melody has been put into this square box (and it fits!). The only place where this falls apart slightly is between 2:24-3:20 where the lead and the chords are just not meshing quite well. My only gripe: the whitenoise audible throughout the recording, especially at the very beginning and at the very end of it. I would also recommend replacing the high-pitched leads with vocals for another mix - now, that would make it sound really 70s, I think! All in all, fantastic effort, great results, very enjoyable! |

I really like how tunes #1 and #3 got blended together, but at the same time, I also wish they were kept separate, because the second remix is so much better than the first one.I do like the historically relevant vocals and voice samples, they add an unusual depth to the remix. Even though the lyrics from 4:15 is too blunt and direct for my taste. Subtlety and metaphors would be my preference… The rhythm guitars stand head and shoulders above the rest. I like the arrangement, I like how it's produced, I'll surely listen to it many more times. |

From First to Last (AROK12 tribute mix) - arranged by SIDrip AllianceReview by LaLa, 06/09/2010 Laser-sharp mixing, I can hear each individual guitar string! The arrangement is also fantastic, the different parts flow into each other seamlessly - which means somebody spent a ton of effort to make this arrangement seem effortless. 😉My only minor gripe about the remix is some of the lead sounds - I think they are a bit too thin and effect-less, and sound a touch out-of-place with the rocky backing. More reverb or vibrato, or fatter lead instruments would've helped. But otherwise, just WOW! |

Overall an excellent job. I'd definitely not be afraid to go overboard with the percussion in part two, think NIN's Piggy… I did feel that the bass sound that comes in at 3:00 should have been more like a distorted rhythm guitar… |

Way of the Exploding Fist (Ambient Blitz Mix) - arranged by dr.blitzenReview by LaLa, 21/06/2010 This is two remixes for the price of one.The first half is a really well-done ambient remix with a mostly oriental instrumentation. I find the lead wind instrument synthetic and expressionless, otherwise, the arrangement is great. The second remix - starting at 1:55 after the big gong - is more synthy, reminding me of Tangerine Dream's early 80s era. This, I feel, is a bit weaker than the first half of the remix. If this remix ended at 1:55, it would've received a big red smiley from me, but unfortunately, the second half feels less refined to me. |

Pinball Dreams - Digital World - arranged by Char7ieReview by RikTh, 09/06/2010 From the start of AmigaRemix, only two entry lists a remix for Pinball Dreams. One is a rightdown mp3'd version of the original mod done by Deadly Cookie, the other… Well, nice try, Pirx, but no thanks. So anyone who has an original take on one of my all-time favorites on the ol' Amiga has to be congratulated upfront. But then again: how does one cover a song that consists of 4 subparts, each one in it's own right? Char7ie gives us the answer!From the start, the remix takes on it's own route, being very much more analogue in comparison to the original mod (and it's. The intro feels somewhat forcefull on comparison to the original. The synth lacks depth and echo. Also, the tempo of the overall song has dropped some 15 BPM, which is not a huge deal, but strange for someone who has listened to the original remix for some four years now… The first subsong kicks in as a very nice lead guitar is nicely shadowed by a insprirative bass- and drumtrack. High programming value of both ones, there is much variation, and the mix is beautifully composed. The lead synth though seem out of place somewhere, as if it is overacting oppose to the guitar in bends and sweeps. The guitar takes revenge in a raving solo, ending the subsong. The second subsong is again two worlds. I absolutely despise the slap-bass riff in the beginning as it is too long, too forced and clearly synthesized. But then… The main song is so composed again. Lead guitar with delays, nice chorussy riffs. drum and bass mixed in beautifully. The synths behave like they need to here, the lead synth don't overact anymore. Nice wah-wah's! The third subsong (starting off with the saxlike sounds pumping into a speedmetallike end) is… missing. Char7ie chose not to incorporate that, but end on a high leadsolo. Which is perfectly understandable, as i didn't see the point of that part of the original mod as well. Overall: Stunning guitarwork, high production value, great programming. Push back synths were needed, smooth out the intro, and we have a worthy original mix! |

Northstar - Lone in space - arranged by manganoid offlineReview by Remedy, 31/05/2010 OK I just happened to stumble upon this one and went over it quickly so I'll just recap a few points here. Although it has substance it lacks impact, you gotta keep up with consistency throughout the whole tune and from what I gather, in your song the impact comes later, at the final part of the song. You should give it an idea of a story going on around not just sticking to the basic theme trying to reinterpret it. Well I like the tune but you should come up with your own idea of the rhythm section and as how to give it more dynamics. Go back to the drawing board and rethink it again. You don't have to be into mastering thing, gotta go by your own gut feeling. I wish I could help you out but for now on I think I'll just pass this info on to you. |

Scroll Machine (5th Dream About Happiness) - arranged by LManReview by NecroPolo, 20/05/2010 First I met this tune in game BMX Kids in the highscore section. With all due to respect for Rob Hubbard, this SID for me seriously outshines the well-known digi GO-GO-GO tune, I loaded the game only for 5th Dream and let it loop, later recorded it on tape of course.For years I did not hear more about Yip but one day I got a disk with the Scroll Machine demo. I was blown away again (his other tunes were stunning as well) and I really appreciated that I did not have to load the BMX game and blow it for getting to hi-score screen as soon as possible😊 After a big loop, in 2009 '5th Dream' was somewhere at the top of SIDs to be remixed for the album 'rakBIT'. I discovered LMan's remix somewhere around February and immediately removed the tune from the list. For me, there was no reason to remix Scroll Machine anymore. Listening to this highly perfected work I just heard what I wanted to hear. I enjoyed listening to it much more than working on my remix 'skeleton' of it. It was no reason to continue work with this SID, I just sat back and enjoyed this awesome rendition. Much time passed but it remained one of my favs even since. |

Test Drive 2 - Relax & Clip Your Belt - arranged by gibsReview by Byproduct, 14/05/2010 Excellent production here. Sounds nice and has a few creative ideas here and there. Nothing to complain about, really.This is a problematic tune to remix, however, because the original is very short and has little substance in it. Either the remix remains equally short, keeps repeating the same notes too long, or, as in this case, the remixer composes some of his own stuff on it. It is a pleasure to listen to, but in my mind doesn't fully connect to the original track. I'm going to have to subtract one grade for that reason, but this is probably as good as a TD2 remix is going to get. |

Wizardry (Marco Polo Edit) - arranged by Dr FutureReview by LaLa, 12/05/2010 As a fan of Rondo Veneziano, I've instantly recognized their pop-renaissance style in this remix, so I guess that's a good thing.Unfortunately, where this remix falls flat is in the instrumentation. The winds (flutes, piccolos, etc.) and the strings are especially lacking in sonic detail. And that Korg preset overused by Enigma and others at 1:16 is just too tacky for me. Add it all up and the end result comes out sounding somewhat cheap. I do like the drums, though, and I do like the arrangement of the remix, it just needs a bit more attention to the instrumentation details. |

Navy Moves - arranged by SIDrip AllianceReview by LaLa, 03/05/2010 Whoa, quite a tour de force! Great job, guys, great job! However, allow me to provide some critique of this great remix.First of all, whether due to mixing or arrangement, the remix sounds a bit too chaotic. Yes, Navy Moves demands a powerful remix like this, but this may be just a wee bit too much of a good thing. Sounds like everything was mixed in on the same level and thus, there's no separation of the tracks. Second, that lead kicking in at 1:14 is rather weak. C'mon, a tune like this needs powerful electric guitars for lead, not a wah-wah filtered synth! Either that, or mix it in more to the front and add some more effects to it to make it stand out from the near-chaotic drums and bass. Third, I know that Navy Moves is looping tune, but the ending of this remix leaves me unsatisfied. If you're interested, drop me an email and I'll tell you what kind of ending do I imagine for this SID. 😊 All in all, definitely the best Navy Moves remix to date, but I'm still awaiting for the ultimate one. |

I mentioned plastic orchestra in the shout before. Well, as it turned out, the instrument that you can hear here is a real trumpet, supported with synth brass. The layer of plastic orchestra totally tricked my ears. But, why is that important - and why is it important to change the comment? Because real instruments have souls. They require much time, skill, heart, care and attention. Without all of that, they just make noise and don't sing. I have a full respect of this. It just deserved a more detailed feedback. |
