Story

This is my 100th release on RKO/AR/R64 - and how very appropriate it is that this was a request from Mr Kwed Himself!

I don’t remember the exact year when I first found remix.kwed.org, but it was sometime around the early 2000s - I was super-excited about it! I wanted to download everything, but at that time there was a limit of 5 downloads per hour. I distinctly remember setting an alarm each hour so I could continue my exploration. Pretty crazy to think I now have released ~100 tracks into the same ecosystem. I have had - and continue to have - lots of fun with it, and hope you do too.

Nemesis the Warlock also marks my first proper remix of a Rob Hubbard SID, quite a strange metric I would say, given the overall volume of my releases. Of course I have listened to the original many many times over the years, but never quite got around to it until I received this request. I’m glad I did - it’s a much more complex piece than I had imagined, with lots of surprising details. I have also actively avoided listening to other remixes of it so as not to be influenced by them - looking forward to hearing all of those now that this is released! 🙂

Just when I thought that my top-3 favorite SID couldn't be reinvented, it gets reinvented. Thank you, Eivind. Amazing work.

First of all, congrats on your 100th remix! Quite an achievement!

Unfortunately, as much as I would like to, I just can't rate it a red smilie. While technically it's a superb production, emotionally it just doesn't quite grab me. Not sure why, because all the pieces are there: epic instrumentation, choir, big drums… Maybe it'll grow on me if I keep listening to it.
