Waz shouts:No no no. Doing a dance version of this SID (and the Larry Fast original) just kills all the emotion that was present in the original. Layering a very compressed and distorted SID on top of the repetitive drums does not a good tune make.
You can barely hear the SID, and the rest of the arrangement feels like pre-recorded loops. I'm also torn wether the scarce DJ-tricks and filterings merits this tune to be called anything but low quality SID+drums.

I just feel it's hollow...

nicodaemus shouts:Certainly interesting what a bit of drums and a lot of filtering can do to a SID. Interesting, but not much more. I actually enjoyed the last 2-3 min of the tune.
Could have been something with some more inspiring mixing... But the sound quality is just too poor.
Sorry... But the melody soundlike it's playing next door. I don't think that making this tune into dance is a crime... It's creativity, and I like the idear. Drums are nice and unzy. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD!!!!
Not sure what the rest of these guys are on, this made the original track more listenable - the original Zoids is grating, this gave it a cool beat and some subtlety, really good stuff.
Too much filtering...
I get tired of listening to this. Too bad, as there are really few good Zoid remakes.
melligan shouts:I like it a lot!!! The filtering is really nice. I also noticed my GF in the room next to me dancing to this, she came to me and told me that she loves this tune.
Its a shame coz the idea works, but it could be improved greatly by better EQ and mixing.. The sid sounds like its coming from under a wet blanket.
Guys. There is more than pushing up SID tunes by playing them with an orchestra. Brilliant techno tune. Although the beats and the loops the feeling of Zoids is alive. I like it!
I don't care if this is easy to do or not, it makes my head bob and my feet thomp.
Brutish, noisy, aggresive : why not? Good techno and it changes from what we usually hear there. And I definitely recognized Zoids behind the drums :)
