SIDnificant - A C64 Demoscene Remix Album
Looking for something new and a bit different? Looking for some remix variety? Well then, this might be an album for you!
This is a new remix album featuring a select set of Commodore 64 demoscene tunes.
However, you won't find any game music remixes or commercial music covers in here, nor will you find music by any famous composers and/or famous C64 demosceners since this remix album is dedicated to the lesser known
and focuses strictly on non-commercial original SID tunes which (as far as I know, and at the time this album was put together) haven't been remixed before.
There's so much talent and so much cool SID music out there! 😃
Same as with the original tunes, the style, tempo, and mood of the remixes vary - which is why the tracklist conveniently lists them from lighter to darker sounding, although this album stays within the electronic music genre since there are no orchestral or acoustic type remixes, and while certain creative liberties were taken during the remixing process in order to beef up the sound and produce a track that's at least 3 minutes long, melodic additions and other noodlings were deliberately kept to a minimum since I didn't want to dilute the original tunes too much.
And yes, this is a totally free digital album!
It can easily be downloaded from either Bandcamp or my Google Drive.
Enjoy the music!

Matt Gray's "6581 Records" is Shutting Down
On the heels of C64Audio's announcement that they are shutting down at the end of June ( see our earlier news item about it ), Matt Gray announced that he is also closing his 6581 Records
online store at the end of this month. All current releases will continue to be available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and other major streaming platforms. But if you'd like to own some of the physical items available at the store, this is probably your last chance to buy them.

New EPs from C64Audio.com on Bandcamp
Hi everyone! Welcome to the first of many album releases on Bandcamp, celebrating our Lord and Master, Sir Rob Hubbard. If anything has been a revelation during the 8-Bit Symphony project, it's just how good Rob is at realising his own tunes for orchestra. It's not only that he's great: but he's a visionary and really puts the sweat in. The words 'Labour of Love' don't cover it.
So, here's Rob's biggest hitters in a bite-size EP. We've broken the 8-Bit Symphony album into seven different EPs, so look out for them over the next couple of weeks.
In general, many of the albums from C64Audio.com that have an identity of their own will be left intact. But in the case of 8-Bit Symphony Pro, it was a bit of a hodgepodge so we're enjoying breaking the albums out into themes. The next one will be 'Knight Lyfe'!
Please spread the word: not only for C64Audio but this is Rob's passion project and it needs more love!

ZZAP! Live 2025 - Videos
Video recordings from the ZZAP! Live 2025 event over the weekend are now available on YouTube and Twitch, courtesy SLAY Radio. There was a music Q&A panel led by Andrew Fisher (Merman) featuring Jogeir Liljedahl, Tomas Danko, Peter Clarke, Mike Clarke, Jason Page, and Mark Knight, and a SLAY Radio show recorded in front of a live audience for the first time ever! The recordings are a bit scattered around due to various technical difficulties, and the live SLAY Radio show has had audio and sync issues throughout, nevertheless, links to all of the videos are below.
Hacking attacks against remix64.com
Dear community, remix64.com was under heavy DDoS fire in the last couple of days. So bad that there were outages and other problems with it, and we had to enable cloudflare protection and relocate the forum to another URI. This might not be over so bear with us and fingers crossed…
End of an Era: C64Audio.com is Closing Down
Sadly, Chris Abbott has recently announced that C64Audio.com is closing down on June 30th, 2025. The site has been up and running since 1997 (!) - its importance in getting the Commodore (and general 8-bit) remix scene off the ground simply cannot be overstated.
Until then their online store is having a closing down sale with heavily discounted pricing. Most content of the site will also be slowly transitioning to its new page on Bandcamp in the coming years, so many of the albums produced by C64audio over the decades that had so much love and effort poured into them will eventually be available there.

Remix News, April 2025
The Remix News for April, 2025 is here! Interestingly enough, this also marks the 4th month in a row that we had exactly 19 remix releases (C64+Amiga). Hmm!… Enjoy the voiceover for this episode by Marcel - and I wonder whose track was picked as a spotlight for this month… 🤔😉
