A Quick Q&A with the German Remix Group

The German Remix Group (GRG) has recently announced that on April 22nd, 2026 they will launch a Kickstarter campaign for the creation of a physical album dedicated to Jochen Hippel's soundtrack of the Amiga game 'Wings of Death'. Although this group has been publishing remix albums since 2012 - all of which have been available for free on their website - not everybody may be familiar with them, so I thought I would make them sit down and answer a few questions to introduce themselves and their new campaign to the readers of Remix64.com. On April 22nd, the 1st Kickstarter dedicated to Jochen Hippel is starting and needs your support!

The German Remix Group is launching its first Kickstarter campaign together with Jochen Hippel and his legendary "Wings of Death" soundtrack.
With "Wings of Death – The Reworked Anthology" we’d like to present all the tracks from the original soundtrack in both "remastered" and "reworked" versions, as well as selected remixes.

The finished product will be available as a digital download edition, a double CD, and a limited-edition "Best of" vinyl record.

Matt Gray: The Last Ninja (Reformation 5)

The first "disc" of the Reformation 5 campaign is now available at Bandcamp in which Matt Gray created brand new fresh remixes of all 11 tunes of The Last Ninja soundtrack. It has been a long and difficult road since Matt launched his Reformation 5 Kickstarter exactly 4 years ago, almost to the day, but I think we can all agree the wait was well worth it. Those who have backed the project should've already received their private download links. The original campaign promised a total of 3 albums, so more is yet to come from Matt!

Encore500 Volume 2 Now Out!

The latest remix album titled "Encore500 Volume 2" is now out! This is the 4th album in the Encore series and their second album containing nothing but Amiga remixes. All 16 tracks of the album are available for free on AmigaRemix.com, featuring remixes from Bass Cadet, Barry Leitch, Jogeir Liljedahl, LMan, Firefox, Tim Forsyth, Turbo Knight, Romeo Knight, Mattias Brian, Xiny6581 (DeeS), Martin Wall, and ziona.

Encore500 v2 Release Party on SLAY Radio

On Thursday, March 19, 2026 SLAY Radio will host a Release Party for the second edition of Encore500, a remix album chock full of brand new Amiga remixes. Special guests will include Jogeir Liljedahl, Barry Leitch, Tim Forsyth, Bass Cadet, Mantronix and "perhaps Romeo Knight" who will be joining Slaygon and ziona to chat about the album, their tracks, and hopefully share some insight into their process of creating them.

Questions for the team are most welcome on SLAY Radio's Discord channel. SLAY Radio programs are broadcast on YouTube, Twich, Facebook, and via audio streams available on their website.

New Remix Album: Nepawaganza

There's a new remix album available by a Finnish duo called Nepawaganza. Their eponymous CD album is now available for order at their website. They also released a 5-track digital maxi of the album on Bandcamp where fans can preview what the full 11-track album is about.

Nepawaganza consists of Greippi on electric cello and Arttu Raami on electric bass. Their debut album also features German trumpeter Sobrasson on several tracks. Nepawaganza has been around for 6 years now, they've played at about 20 gigs, including demoscene events such as Zoo and Jumalauta. This is their first C64 remix album - check it out, and if you like what you hear, order their CD (and soon: cassette tape!) at their website.

Mastertronic C64 Remixes - Part 4

The 4th and last part in the article series about Mastertronic C64 remixes is now available. In it Waz takes a look at tracks from commercially released albums that remixed tunes from games that were re-released by Mastertronic. If that all sounds a bit complicated, that's probably my fault - just go read the article (in which Waz also provided handy links where you can listen to the remixes he mentions), and it'll all be clear.

Today the FastLoaders have released their much anticipated second crowd-funded Amiga remix album, appropriately titled "Amiga Rocks Harder". If you have backed their Kickstarter campaign check your inbox for the download links of the digital album.

The album contains well over 2 hours of brand new Amiga remixes spread over 3 discs and 39 tracks. Watch this space for release announcements on digital streaming services, including on Bandcamp - as soon as they are available, we'll let you know!

ROTY 2025 Winners

The Remixer of the Year (ROTY) 2025 Awards were were handed out earlier today during a live SLAY Radio show. The big prize was won yet again by Eivind Sommersten for the second year in a row! BIT Live is Back in 2026 - With a Surprise Date!

The FastLoaders have announced that Back In Time Live will be held again in 2026 in Bergen, Norway, and this time with a - <checks his notes again> - summer date!?! Yes, that's right, folks, for the first time ever, BIT Live will be held as a two-day event smack in the middle of SUMMER on July 31- August 1! Rumors were abound last year that Norway does actually have a summer season, so this might be a good opportunity to fact-check that in person. The event will be at a new venue, too, at the Ole Bull Scene, still in Bergen's city centre, not far from where all the other Norwegian BIT Live events were held in recent years. Tickets are already available for the event at the link below.

Rambo Loader Tune by Matt Gray

I've just put up the new R5 version on Bandcamp of one of my all time favourite SID tunes, the Loading Theme from Rambo First Blood Part 2. Link Below.

Mr Galway excelled himself with the music on that game, and for me the loading track is possibly the greatest C64 game track ever. So I've taken my time in doing my 2nd version of it (the first being on the original Reformation and made well over 10 years ago now) to try and do it justice. I'm very happy with the result and hopefully you will enjoy also.

Work on the LN1 album is progressing nicely and hopefully March will indeed finally see its digital release.

Thanks so much to everyone for all the great comments on the previous R5 track uploads. It's very reassuring to know so many of you are enjoying the new tracks as much as I have enjoyed making them.

Matt Gray has released another single from his upcoming "Reformation 5" album: the main theme of "The Palace" level from The Last Ninja. Although Matt has already tackled this tune on his "Reformation 3" album, he has reworked it significantly. It's availabe now on Bandcamp.
