Story

To my ears, this is a classic from the late early days of the 64 and my favourite of Adam Gilmore's SIDs.

What I found surprising was the tempo changes (80 to 120 at the start), then a switch up at the end to 160bpm but with a rhythm based on triplets. I had to set my daw to 3/4 to hit those triplets, but I think fundamentally it's 4/4. As always my knowledge of theory is just out of reach 😊

I had a much longer (unfinished) intro, at almost 2 minutes, but after deciding to edit it down to enter the Arok compo, I preferred it as it had more focus. At Arok, It came a respectable 6th place in a close contest full of brilliant entries.

The end was a joy to make, the guitar parts were especially hard for me trying to play in time and so fast but it was worth the practise. I'm super happy how it turned out, I hope you enjoy it.

Outstanding.
Wow! You deliver again!
What a nice arrangement! With a little Jean-Michel Jarre inside =)
IMHO, this deserved a higher placement at the Árok compo. Love those Pink Floyd wobbles at the 2:16 mark! The uptempo last third of it is a joy to listen to!
