I have been meaning to cover Crazy Comets for a long time now and I say cover because it's such an iconic Rob Hubbard tune I felt that too much messing about would spoil it.

Don't fuck with those comets, or Rob Hubbard might vomit were the terrible alternative lyrics of some weird ass remix I had imagined in my head to keep me on track. Also I'm not Makke, who can pull this stuff off with aparent ease and his excellent Kraftwerk version is, for me, the definitive alternate spin on this classic.

I tried to imagine this as a live band with real instruments, how they'd play their individual parts and try to inject some energy with the electric piano. I also wanted to avoid the clunky ringmod fx and try to arrange my way around them.

I also didn't want to use the trill / glissando fx either but anyone I played my demo to mentioned it's absence so I spent a lot of time recreating this sound.

Drambo is on FX duties. I built the Hubbard drums and trill FX using this great modular synth.

Also, the majority of the arrangement was built just after Christmas when I had an ear infection and was deaf in one ear for a few months. Now that's cleared I've been able to finish off this cover
