Deflektor (back to 88 mix) - arranged by Paul BlackfordReview by eliot, 11/06/2003 Welcome Paul to remix. kwed. orgIt seems we got an arranger with some potential. His minimalistic style will not fit for everyone, but does music need to fit everyone? He choose one of Ben's weakest tunes and turned it to something better. Also his SID-a-like drums bring me back to the 1980ies I wish I am still back and have not to mess with servicepacks and other crap. Respect Paul, nice work. |

Tai Pan (Jumpin' J Remix) - arranged by Sonic WandererReview by eliot, 10/06/2003 Tekkno/House meets Peter Clarke.I got a bit confused at the beginning because the speed is much higher than the originial. Maybe I would have choosen a more softer approach, but overall the tune works, especially when the original is unknown The mix of electronic instruments, piano and guitars is really neat and well solved. So, without bad conscience I can recommand this song to all readers of my review. |

Trantor (Storm cometh remix) - arranged by InfamousReview by maindrian, 10/06/2003 Well, its a dodgy one this. On one hand, this remix bears little or no resemblance to the original, aside from the intro. And the intro isnt 100% either… On the other hand, its got a wonderful sound. Its simply a great piece of music, especially when the distorted kickdrums pound in at 1:13.I've waited a while for a decent… Well, any remix of Trantor, and to be honest this was a little disapointing. However, it still a good peice of electronic grindage. Download, but dont expect a perfect cover. |

Galway & FeekZoid 2003 - arranged by FeekZoidReview by eliot, 10/06/2003 Paul did a lot of variations, mixed electronic instruments with guitars (yes, sounds like rock-guitars ) During listening I think, the last kick is missing especially during the first part of the song. The last part is imho done perfect. So, it's hard to decide to votevery goodor outstanding. The merging of the two Galway tunes works and the variety of instruments is breath-taking, because I had never the feeling they were at the wrong place or too much or shall replaced with something else. Also the Galway-C64-like instruments aren't a means to an end, they fit to the tune nicely. Well done Paul, I appreciate this tune and look forward for your next upload |

Trantor (Storm cometh remix) - arranged by InfamousReview by tom, 09/06/2003 Since i am a big Fan of BJÖRK i do really love this remix..Clever arranged Drums with a little distortion - Fx are giving this remix the right speed.. unfortunately i don't know the original SID too much that's why i gave a grey-face for nostalgic impression😉 But overall it's a very good work, me thinks, and worth to give it a try!! |

Last Ninja 3 (Ninjha mix) - arranged by Red DevilReview by bohemiath26, 07/06/2003 I actually had gotten past playing C64 when Last Ninja 3 came out, so I never heard it back then… but I went back 10 years later after discovering SIDs… I downloaded this tune 'cause I always loved all the Last Ninja 1 & 2 tunes… This one was outstanding… I heard it before I heard the SID… and I was almost disappointed to hear the SID in comparison… great, great job. |

Chimera (Standfast Remix) - arranged by Philip Bak offlineReview by almightyc64, 06/06/2003 The two tunes from Chimera have always been some of my favorite c64 tunes, and Phil Bak does a wonderful job with this remix of the high score tune. It sticks very close to the original which is not a bad thing, and the preacher at the end of the tune is almost enough to make me wish I was in church on a sunday morning. Excellent job. |

Spy vs Spy II (Late Nite Mellow) - arranged by RauliReview by almightyc64, 06/06/2003 This really is an excellent remix. It plays quite a bit slower than the original tune, but it's very enjoyable to listen to and stays very close to the original. I'd say Late Nite Mellow is a perfect way of describing this. One of my favorite remixes for sure. |

Very relaxing to listen to with a terrific repetitive beat. I never really appreciated the original SID music from this game, but this Remix gave me a whole new appreciation of the high score theme. This is more than just your usual remix in that it's close enough to the original to be recognizable, yet goes off in it's own direction with great results. Dragons Lair II - Indian Remix - arranged by choscReview by bar, 05/06/2003 Is it possible that this remix lies so down in the chart?Ok, it doesn't sound commercial, has no rhetorical constructions or structures, even the drum path sounds strange and the lead vocal track is a bit too reverberated to melt perfectly with the music carpet, but - no doubt - this version of Dragon's Lair II is by far one of the most original remixes on the RKO. Chosc had some very good ideas, like the way many sounds enter and exit from the (quite repetitive) melodic texture, and like the fusion of electronic sounds (keybords and bass) with the indian-like singing and percussions, ending the tune with the Europeanclassical sound of the pipeorgan. The result is, in my opinion, very artistic and, even if undoubted very dark and a bit gloomy, it may be considered a fair example of the way a C64-remix should be done. |

Hardcore Hubbard Mix - arranged by Jogeir LiljedahlReview by phreak_paradize, 04/06/2003 Hmmm what to write, what to say and what to do.. Jogeir is awsome, unfortunately I've never come across any C64 work of his, if such exists, but alot of his amiga material in mod format is amongst the best ever created. This tune is abit too guitarish for me to flatly fall for it. But the overall technical aspect of the tune is astounding, as is all work Jogeir does. It was a pleasant surprise to find a mix of mr. Liljedahl among the lot at RKO. Way to go mister. |

Speedball - arranged by Clayton and Stafford MarslandReview by maindrian, 01/06/2003 Its darn good this. In its more frenetic moments, I can imagine a John Woo style action sequence or something. Somebody once told me that good music can be defined by the mental image you get when you hear it, very true in this case. It would soundtrack a good spy movie very well. Chilled out moments give the listener a chance to breathe, but this track is at its best when the pedal is to the metal.Its not without its faults. The rythm guitar is occasionally a little hard to pick up, but the lead sounds absolutley fantastic. An odd remix, what with all the time changes and everything, but well worth checking out. |

WOW Reggae (Chilln Out) - arranged by Joe [Stainless Steel] BarwickReview by putzi, 31/05/2003 A classic Laxity tune covered in Laxity-relaxed style.Chilln Outis the right subtitle for this mix. Arrangement is OK. Some sounds are maybe SID (or emulated), but good. Starts off with some clicks, delayed in stereo, and ends before the last note is faded out: not that impressive technical work. |

Sounds very interesting and relaxed, but not boring at all. The piano is nice, the filters not over-used. Very good mixage.Maybe the best remix of this SID, it has everything from the original except for the rhythm that we know already too good. |

Cybernoid II (trance-like mix) - arranged by AnDras PosztReview by putzi, 31/05/2003 Generic drums from Rebirth, not so bad synth-sounds for the lead, even some breaks where they should be, good mixage, but:a bit of missing a good idea and a nice touch all over. DHS' remix of Cybernoid 2 (Cyber Pede) is still the best around, but if you're looking especially for some trance-alike mix, get this one. |

Last Ninja Wastelands (again) - arranged by QReview by putzi, 31/05/2003 THE classic tune of all Last Ninja-tunes, this time very close-to-life done withthe sound of a pan-flute and some other rather authentic-sounding of what we Europeans think is Asian 😉 This is not a remix, is it a cover-version and I have to think about if I should do myself a new version of this SID since this version is really good. The only negative aspects to me are: - sub-bass far too loud (and this is only the bass of the bass-line, not the drums) - a good mix, but encoded in only 128K/Bit |

Parallax (MC Version) - arranged by CytexReview by craigg, 30/05/2003 Seasoned C64 remix aficionados with no doubt already have a plethora of Parallax reworkings, including those on the Back in Time CDs and CD-ROMs, so do we need another? Cytex's fairly straight version smoothes out the original harsh exterior, creating a warm, engrossing take on Galway's track, which only falters on occasion when the slightly piercing lead take precedence or slips from the original's melody. Generally, the sounds are well thought out, especially the relaxed drums, and fans of the original should take a look. |

Speedball - arranged by Clayton and Stafford MarslandReview by bruce, 26/05/2003 Starts off with an easy listeningtest cardmusic style, lulling you into a false sense of chilled out mood music before launching into an all out manic speedball frenzy - waking you up with a punch in the face. Just as you enter a lighter moment, and are recovering with a few seconds rest from your rude awakening, you are then smacked with another full-on dose of speedball. This pattern continues throughout the song. This is a fantastic remix which captures the manic nature of the original perfectly, and enhances it to new levels. A couple of wrong notes are easily ignored as you are taken on this crazy roller coaster ride. Turn up the volume nice and loud for this one! |

The vocal section is a nice touch, creating a japanese anime feel. The original Hubbard track is still a blast (excuse the pun) and this remix puts a smile on your face which will stay there long after the track's finished!! Warning!! this track will get stuck in your head all day! |
