Turrican II - The Great Bath - arranged by AmiGamer

Review by xonder, 28/09/2005

This is in my opinion easily the best Great Bath remix hitherto. The instruments feel just right, as does the mood (at least until the drums begin). I particularly enjoyed the flute and the choirs/strings. In my opinion the drum section seems pretty much out of place, though. As far as I'm concerned The Great Bath is nothing about rhythm, but all about melody and harmony. The melody carries itself very well without need of a drum beat. But apart from that I have very little to complain about. All the harmonies are 100% true to the original, unlike many other The Great Bath remixes. Great work!

KikStart 2 - arranged by IceXuick

Review by xonder, 08/07/2004

I kind of like what IceXuick has done with the Kikstart 2 music here. It's a really big improvement over the original, and its upbeat, dance-friendly style suits the tune very well in my opinion. The remix itself is, like the original, very melodical which I consider to be a good thing. It tends to get a bit repetitive at times, but the remix is not that long, so it doesn't matter that much. Overall I consider it be a really solid and well-made piece of dance music which is really pleasing to listen to (for me anyway). I'd recommend this to anyone who like dance-remixes.

Deliverance - Gem'X - arranged by Markus Schneider

Review by xonder, 02/07/2004

I must say I was quite disappointed with this orchestral remix of Chris Hülsbeck's Gem'X tune. The choice of remixing Gem'X was good, though, in my opinion, as I consider it to be a nice sid tune, rather well-suited for an orchestral arrangement. What I don't like about it is that Markus has changed a lot of Chris' original harmonies (blasphemy!) and replaced them with his own, which in my opinion don't fit in nearly as well as the ones in the original. Chris Hülsbeck's harmonies should just never, ever, ever be tampered with, as they are always perfect to begin with. I would have given this one a lot higher overall grade if Markus would have stuck with the original harmonies rather than choosing to use his own. Too bad!

Sweet (feat. Elsa & Karin) - arranged by Markus Schneider & Mahoney

Review by xonder, 11/06/2004

A really great, sweeping orchestral remix of Johannes Bjerregaard's "Sweet". I especially liked the wonderful refrain with the superb singing by Karin Öjehagen. The sheer beauty of her crystal clear voice and the wonderfully orchestrated harmonies actually made me cry. Divinely beautiful!
