Target Renegade (c64 remix by Dan Tootill)

I can only apologise for this one. It was done in ModPlug Tracker (now known as OpenMPT) using samples from the fairly basic Yamaha keyboard I was using at the time. I had only just started making music again, having ditched my Amiga several years earlier and switched to the PC. I was still very much thinking in terms of ProTracker-style MOD files when I made this; the way the voices cut themselves is annoying when I listen to them now.

The arrangement isn't terrible but it is fairly boring. I tried to create some subtle variation in the bassline and melody here and there, but it doesn't add much. The instruments sound generic and not very high-quality; to make matters worse I felt the need to swamp the overall mix in reverb to just to ruin it once and for all.
