C64 Community under attack: from Commodore!

Tulip Computers, currently the holders of the Commodore brandname, seem to have launched an attack on the Commodore 64 community, in the name of saving it: their aim, reading between the lines of their press release, seems to be to attack all 300 commercial sites using the Commodore brand name (yeah, like there's 300 of them) in pursuit of licencing fees or trying to close them down, and attempt to outlaw the current emulators in favour of their commercial one. They have also stated their aim to create an official Commodore web portal which offers pay content: which would presumably mean bullying non-pay-sites into submission.

These moves are being taken by Tulip in the mistaken belief that there are six million active Commodore users out there itching to pay for old games. Tulip (or its partners in this) also mistakenly seems to think that they now have the rights to most of the games for the Commodore 64, again reading from their press release.
