New Features on Remix64.com

There were several new features added to Remix64.com recently, and some parts of the site have been updated - we're very excited to share all of them with you!

Emojis

Emoji Support!

Writing your shouts and reviews in plain text is sooo 20th century! You can now add emojis to both to give that extra touch to your reviews! Yay! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ»

Also, did you know that you can add simple HTML markup to your reviews? You can add paragraphs <p>, line breaks <br>, bold text <b>, italics <i> and several more. So, go ahead and decorate your reviews to make them come alive!

Link To DeepSID

Links to DeepSID

In case you haven't noticed, we've added deep links to DeepSID (ha, see what I did there? 😁), so you can listen to the original SID that a remix is based on right there in your browser. Amiga remixes - sorry, you're out of luck for now.

Links To Other Remixes

Links to Other Remixes of the Same Tune

Speaking of links, we've also cross-linked SID remixes of the same game tune, and even the same subtune. So, if you want to binge-listen all remixes of Last Ninja Wilderness, we just made that a whole lot easier for you!

Achievements

Achievements Unlocked

How does a tune get Mordified and who is this Mordi guy, anyway? Well, now you can see why everybody keeps talking about him - or about any other remixer who has also won awards in the past, because remixer pages now list all their achivements in one single place. Yay!

ROTY Pages

Organized ROTY Pages

Speaking of awards, we dusted off some old bits and bytes and dug up the results of all ROTY Awards going back to 2001! So now you can see who won what since the beginning of time.

Album List

Album List: Up-to-date

We were also busy making our album database as complete as possible. If you think we are still missing your favorite album from this list, please, let us know!

Do note that we consider an album a remix album only if about half of the tracks of the album are either C64 or Amiga remixes or covers.

Badges

Remixer Badges

Don't mix this up with badgers, which is a totally different thing… We've started experimenting with a more nuanced badge system for remixers, because we thought that the old badges didn't really reflect the variety of remixers we now have the privilege to have as registered users. So, as of right now the badges are:

  • Newcomer - If you have submitted your first remix just within the past year.
  • Remixer - If you have been with us between 1 and 5 years.
  • Adept - If you have been with us for 5 to 10 years.
  • Specialist - If you have been with us for 10 to 15 years.
  • Veteran - If you have been with us for 15 to 20 years.
  • Gold Veteran - If you have been with us for more than 20 years (also known as old farts).

Don't worry, there's no need to memorize this list - just hover over a badge with your mouse and a tooltip will pop up that will tell you exactly how long that remixer has been with Remix64.com!

(NOTE: The new badges will NOT affect the eligibility for the Veteran category for ROTY 2021. The rules for ROTY 2021 will remain the same as they were for 2020.)

Forum Header

Forum

Not much new here, to be honest, but the phpBB tool that is behind the forum has been updated to the latest version, hopefully resulting in less spam now. (We've also been more vigilant removing those pesky spammers as we spot them. They are becoming trickier to spot!)

Well, that's it for now. We hope you like all these new features and enhancements! Please, do let us know what you think of them by dropping a word or two in the Forum or by emailing any of the admins directly.
