C64 video game music pioneer Jeroen Tel has launched this IndieGogo project with the aim to release a C64 remake album featuring at least 12 of his best known classics.

It’s been my dream for over 20 years to remake the most memorable of these C64 SID soundtracks in a professional way he says, explaining the reason behind the project. Over the past few years he has been asked many times by fans and friends when he would start a crowdfunding campaign to create an album with remakes of the best Jeroen Tel /
Maniacs of Noise Commodore 64 game music, all composed at the young age of 14-18.

Now, over 20 years later, for many, that wish comes true. Interestingly, regarding what the new remakes will actually sound like, he says:

I will stay true to the originals, every single note will be there, but this time I will have the possibility to add the extra layers that I envisioned back then. So basically, it will be a 50/50 thing. I had to work around so many musically technical difficulties to actually make music happen within 3 voices that it became a mission on its own. Now I have the freedom to use as many channels as I want.

The goal is $38,911 USD, and it’s almost already halfway there! The IndieGogo still has a few days to run, ending August 9 at 12 pm PST.
