Hi all,

I have a newbie question about syncing a - to audio/wave/mp3/aiff converted - SIDfile.

How to sync/quantize the audio file in my DAW. The SID2midi is no problem of course but the audio does not really sync at all.
(Of course there is the possibility that this is not possible at all because there is a different ruleset when exporting SID to audio.)

I'm definitely not a pro in any way, and I would assume that different DAWs have different settings for syncing/quantizing, so I'm not sure if this will be of much help, but I do know that SIDs can have a custom bpm and different "swing" - so it's not always a 4/4 beat.

It can be tricky to sync converted SIDs, but If you can find the "base timing" of the SID tune in question, it's usually easy to line things up after that.
The only real suggestion I have is: use your ears and try syncing whatever has a consistent rhythm first, like the base drum, snare or hihat.

I happen to use Renoise myself, and I don't know any other DAWs, but...

* If your DAW has a Lines Per Beat (LPB) setting or something equivalent, then try values like 4, 5, 6, and 8.

* For Beats Per mInute (BPM), I've found that many SIDs play at around 125-138 BPM, although that depends on what the above mentioned Lines Per Beat (LPB) value they're coupled with it.

For example: One of the more frequent LPB/BPM combos that I've come across for SIDs is 6/128.

Again, I'm not sure if any of that was of much help - sorry if it wasn't, but those are my "two cents" anyway.
