modules to midis? and or

Hi,
I've found some cool .sids in .mid format, but is there a way to convert modules to midis and vice versa? I've been practicing piano for some months now, and what really kicks my feelings is that I can play own midis in Synthesia. But many times it would be nice if you could edit those midis. And more I play these songs with my midipiano the more I want to make some own remix version of Amiga or C64 tunes with Fast Tracker. It was more than 30 years when I last time made something with Fast Tracker, and it would be great to try something again. Cheers.

Hey there!
For editing midi tunes, I would suggest the app "Aria Maestosa".
https://ariamaestosa.github.io/ariamaes ... index.html
And for converting SIDs to MIDs, the app "SID2MIDI" might do the trick.

Hope this helps.
Cheers!

OpenMPT allows you to import MIDI files; you'll need to map instruments to samples, but you can export them as MOD.
It's been a while since I used it, so it may be a little more complex than that or have changed somewhat.
Also, if you are planning on releasing remixes that use someone else's MIDI files, you should think about how to credit them.

Thanks for the useful info!

I didn't know OpenMPT could do any of that.

Thanks guys. This is a one step forward in a long way. At the moment all spare time goes learning with piano, but once in a while its fun to try things in Fast Tracker. Maybe I just should quit my job.

Technically, it won't be "a conversion", because the file formats are vastly different as they cover different features. As such, the term "conversion" is misleading.
At most you may find tools that gather events like "play note, key down" and "key up" and then transcribe those events into the output format with proper speed/resolution. As MOD refers to an entire family of formats, it could be that with a specific MOD format some effects like portamento/pitchbend can be transcribed to MIDI, too. But much, potentially most of the good stuff, will be lost apart from the note values. And yes, it will be necessary to map MOD samples numbers to MIDI instruments numbers.
