Hey, that's the route that me and Skitz were going to put on the site in a few days. It does indeed avoid the congestion, and as an added bonus, you end up on the right side for the Brighton Centre (though you've got
to turn left BEFORE the centre, not after it).

We used this when we went down, and it went like a dream. Half an hour's queue into Brighton avoided :)

Do you think they would mind us doing this? Just remember you must turn left onto "Cannon Place" just before the Brighton Centre as they have changed the one way system on the Russell Road.

Getting to the Brighton Centre
If you must drive to the Brighton Centre or Stakis Brighton Metropole, this is a suggested route avoiding the congestion of the town centre.

From the A23 coming from London, turn left towards the A27 and then take the first left onto the A27 heading towards Worthing. Take the next junction off the A27 which is sign posted Hove. At the top of the slip road take the second exit off the roundabout and proceed down Dyke Road.

After about 1.2 miles turn right into the Droveway. (If you miss this turning, proceed until the next traffic lights and turn right down The Upper Drive and then turn left.) From the Droveway turn left into Shirley Drive, which goes straight down to the sea front. At the sea front, turn left and stay in the inside lane. After half a mile you reach the Stakis Brighton Metropole, and just beyond this, the Brighton Centre.
