Rescued stuff from my Amiga period (1987-1994)

Post by Scyphe »

Amazingly I found an old cassette that had a bunch of my modules recorded. I can't fathom why I'd record old amiga modules to a cassette but damn it was fun listening to some of it. I have a plan to buy an Amiga 1200 and use a network card to transfer all my old Amiga diskettes to the PC (hopefully they're not all ruined after all these years). I saved all my modules, ST-disks (instruments), source codes, graphics that I've made etc. In those days I used to call myself Modesty, something that have caused plenty of mistakes. I didn't take it after the cartoon character Modesty Blaise, I took it because of the irony behind the word. Modesty isn't something that was common among young demo makers, musicians etc. on the Amiga, and I figured it was a cool nick.

Until I can fix an A1200 I figured I'd let you people listen to some of my modules. I'll be adding them one and one. The quality of the cassette wasn't good at all, a lot of hissing and stuff which I tried to remove with a noise filter as well as possible, but it is what it is.

First out is my remix/cover of Rob Hubbard's Master of Magic (probably pro-tracker)

No idea what the name of this one is...

Same here, and it seems to be just two looped patterns...

Doesn't seem finished to me. Probably just a test.

I have a slight memory of this short snippet. I had sampled stuff from some Tangerine Dream album. Halfway into the track someone connects to my BBS which causes a *pling* sound to interrupt as well as enable the noise filter on the Amiga... Oh well.. ;)

Apparently I was inspired by the piano sound in this short one...

This one had some cool stuff going on... :)

We all know how difficult it was to get distorted guitars work on the Amiga. I don't think I made any progress either ;)

One of my few chipsongs that I made..

Another one of my few chipsongs that I made.. This one is quite cool (except for a rather sharp instrument used).

Whistle and ballad.. Or something..

I seem to have been into very short piano rock things at the time... :S

Sweet melancholic little piece..

Hmm, I like this one. Short though.

Dark Jazz.. Well...

I do have access to a few of my modules that I'll make available later.
"...Yes, I DID make modules and demos on the Amiga, but I was never in one of the big groups..."
