Instead of "Thank God", he said "Thank Rob". Rob is God.

Cough.

I like them a lot myself and they basically introduced me to the field of Fantasy literature, but... nah. No way. Not even close.

I'd re-read them over Tolkien any day, though. But the movie surely won't hold a candle to the LOTR adaptation.

They certainly got some B-rated TV actors:
Michael Rosenbaum
Kiefer Sutherland
Lucy Lawless

Is this going to be a full CGI animated movie?
It says "(voice)" only at imdb.

its listed as 'animation' so i would guess that its cgi (a la Final Fanasy)
plus, it looks like they could be doing the books separately rather than fit the whole lot into one movie :D

How on Earth could you fit all of the books into one movie anyway?

Must admit I've read a few and while they were solid reads they didn't really grab me in the same way as, say, David Eddings.

Kiefer Sutherland ain't a B-rated TV, sure he stars un the multi-award winning 24, but he also has appeared in a number of great movies (Lost Boys, Phone Booth and the recently released The Sentinel ) but mostly importantly he and the other actors you mention are experinced voice artists.

Let's see... I haven't read various well-known authors yet (e.g. Eddings, Tad Williams), but from the ones I know:

Everything written by Guy Gavriel Kay is incredible, though he gets less fantasy-ish with every new book.

A Song of Ice And Fire by George R.R. Martin is excellent epic fantasy, though so far not finished.

I liked the first few Wheel of Time books quite a bit, but after book 5 or 6 the story unfortunately gets really slow-moving, dull and overly complicated.

The Discworld books generally are good fun, but I lost my interest for them later on.

And I found various Forgotten Realms books to be easily as good as Dragonlance ever was, with the advantage of a more varied world they're based on.

Just messing around with you :-)

I don't like Kiefer very much though, I think his acting range is quite limited.

That said, I do like The Lost Boys, Dark City, etc. And even the occasional bout of 24H (the new season only).

Oh, yes he is. Compare him to his father, for instance.

Sorry, but he's not an A movie actor.
