Sunday 20 August 21h00

The Malmo Symphony Orchestra will perform
music from DEFENDER OF THE CROWN
by Jim Cuomo at a
special outdoor concert ...

This is the Swedish press release :

---------------------------------

Vi framför musik från: Wizardry, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty,
Killzone, Everquest II, Super Mario Bros.,
DEFENDER OF THE CROWN, Final Fantasy VI,
Final Fantasy VII - samt från Wagners Ringen.

Malmö SymfoniOrkester
Stephen Coleman, dirigent
Orvar Säfström, presentatör
Malmö akademiska kör
Lunds Studentsångare

I think they did that on purpose, Max!... I only heard about it shortly before I posted it...

I was therea, and it was damn good! At first I thought they were only playing Nintendo stuff, but they played a bloody nice C64 medley with Defender of the Crown, Commando, Delta, The Way of the Exploding Fist, The Last Ninja, M.U.L.E, and Monty on the Run. Showing sequences from the games (they only did that with the C64 games) while playing the tunes. :)

Orvar Säfström, who was master of ceremonies, actually asked the crowd if anyone had heard of Press Play On Tape (resulting in quite a bit of cheering) when introducing the C64 medley. :)

It seems google video has some files + these two QuickTime videos are available as well - bootlegs, sure:

Super Mario Bros., not a top-notch performance but interesting version anyway:

The-already-legendary C64-Medley:

There is talk in Swedish at the beginning of these clips. Not to worry, the music will start soon enough.

Oh VERY not bad.... nice warhawk rendition, I thought the defender of the crown benefitted most from the orchestral makeover though.
