Computers writing music, based on rules and "inspiration".

Example:

These are obviously primitive but some of them actually sound fairly cool.

Imagine someday, telling your computer you want to listen to music in a certain style, and it just pumps it out for you, as if a live band/orchestra was playing original music just for you.

Decades away no doubt, but I'm sure it will happen someday.

Now there are providing results of experiments with genetic algorithms and hidden Markov models in computer music synthesis. Besides principles of harmony and contrapoint have a strict mathematical form :)

I think it's the old problem of computers and emotion. I guess it will be hard to fit emotions into a set of rules and inspiration.

BOOGIE, BOOGIE, BOOGIE!

Anyone else ever notice that Twiki's head looks like the bell-end of a penis?... I mean, did nobody at the design stage think "WAIT A MINUTE - we're making a robot with a male sex gland for a head"!!!
