Another call for a compo

Post by DHS »

....second time in a row :)

The last compo (done a *lot* of time ago) was the Breakdance one.

Beside my own remix, it leaded to the great remix done by Pex & Friends.

So, what about a new one?

My suggestion: The competition could be "Best SLAY Radio jingle" and "Best take-away podcast jingle". That is, if Slay and Kwed wants any of those...

Best C64Audio jingle? :)

More useful would be: best pop song based on a C64 tune.

I was thinking about something like:

"Jan picks a random sid (he has the script in RKO) and then let's remix it in whatever style".

@chris: pop styled songs don't seem too "pop"ular at the moment :)

Jingles? Sure thing. The Take-away could do with both intro and outro jingles, plus some short jingles announcing the "news" and "listener feedback" segments.

Even if it's not for a compo.

Believe me or not - I had absolutely the same association. :-)
(Btw Dan: Look into the "Gear"-section on my homepage. There's a bass that might look intersting for you.;-))

I vote for the pop song.

I'd love it to be a randomly selected SID, but the odds are it wouldn't work at all, so I think someone outside the compo should choose a SID for that.

But please don't let it be random. Unless its a 15-min job. No reason to put effort into a crappy sid. Unless you mean a random choice in a narrow pool of candidates

There's a BIG plus to put effort on a crappy sid. Because the remixer is called to make something good out from something bad.

Breakdance was ugly (last compo). Again, i won't speak about my version, but Pex one was definitely amazing.

I'd still prefer music based on great material. But good luck, whatever you guys decide on.
