Not all Coil stuff is that extreme—a lot of it is Warp-esque electronica.

Oi! Nothing wrong with Coil, chaps, although sadly one member died a couple of years back, so the band no longer exists anyway.

Power64 is a stunning emulator, and it always has been. It was doing advanced stuff way before most Windows- and DOS-based C64 emulators, and even though PC-based emulators have largely "caught up" now, Power64's ease-of-use is still of paramount importance (such as being able to manage fi...

Amiga emulation on the Mac makes me cry. There is a version of UAE for OS X, but using it is like pulling teeth. The C64 is better catered for. Although ports of VICE and Frodo exist, Power64 is far better than both. As others have said SIDPLAY X is excellent and may well be the best version of the ...

The licensing law bill went through, but the expected flood of applications was a trickle, and even the larger chains seem to be taking a softly-softly approach. (For instance, in the small town I live in, which has a population of around 25,000, there are something like five or six bars/pubs on the...

However, I find it interesting that a lot of people's average vote isn't "average". Personally I have a very strict (like Edge Magazine) voting policy. Average doesn't mean bad. It means Average. But that comes down to how you vote. My "average" rating is the "yellow" ...

Man, that review annoyed the crap out of me (so much so that I wrote my first for this site in about a year).

This is a top remix, and it's exactly what the scene needs, in order to survive, instead of yet another bloody straight SID/MIDI mix with new instruments.

Yeah, the Commodore brand is commercially jinxed. No one seems to be able to make money of it anymore. It's hardly surprising. Commodore was known for few successes and lots of failures, and only the DTV capitalised on the brand in a relevant way. All other ideas from the new version of the company...

Project Noise "Release"

As a few people here have sample my latest effort (and even enjoyed it!), I thought I'd make a general post. Project Noise's latest CD, "Release", is now out for general purchase. Three full tracks can be downloaded from the Project Noise website, which also includes a link to the online s...

"Arcade trivia quiz" is pretty good, like a pop cross of Duran Duran and, oddly, U96 (at least to my ears).

Gone right off Retro gamer since someone told me they'd blamed the C64 music CD for the poor sale of issue 4. It took you a whole issue more than me to be pissed at the mag, then! Thing is, this is a new team, so things might be different this time round for C64audio. Then again, there won't be ano...

I'd suggest cautious optimism. It's a new team, headed by the bloke who was doing gamesâ„¢'s Retro section, and it'll be designed by Markie of Zzap! and Crash fame.
