Commodore Remix

Hi all!

I just started out on another C64 remix...

Again it was not a tune I had planned on remixing at the moment, it just happened.
It's David Whittaker's "Panther"... and for some reason I found it rather cool to do the lead synth with a distorted guitar sound, something I've not been delving that much into, so I was hoping to hear what you guys and girls think of this weird Jarre'ish electronica style mixed with guitar?

It is just a short riff, and has not benn mixed properly yet, and the guitar part need a more "heavy" kick sound... no FX yet either...

Just take it for what it is, and tell me if it sucks big time, or if it's worth a try?

Don't tell me to make it into a full fledged rock track, it will NOT happen!!!! ... it's this way, my way or the highway!

Thought it might need a bit more speed, so I made a redo with a faster BPM... seems to work better I think...

Panther2.mp3 has been corrected for better kick drum during guitar part...

It needs a bit "tidy-up" un the guitar part with some extra sounds following the lead, I can hear this today after having rested my ears.

To be honest, I've had the urge to try some ZZTOP like guitar passages as I feel the guitar has that ZZTOP sound to it, and the speed seems to be just right ... hmm... guess some rock elements are worth a try afterall

Yes i really like it so far, i never played Panther on the C64 but i remember the tune from Sidewinder on the Amiga.

Hmmm I like the sound of the later part in panther 2 but I like the heavy way panther 1 starts more.

Yes... you are right... I've not listened to this for a while now, and I can definitely hear that the start of Panther 1 sounds better, and the guitar better in part 2....

I have to say that I'm a bit unsatisfied with the guitar part now that I've had some time to lilsten to it again... Guess I'll have to do something about this...
