I hate mine.

1) Lag caused by USB connection renders many games unplayable (for me, at least).
2) Triangular buttons keep getting pushed by mistake (although you can disable them in some emultors, I think).
3) Feels like a Competition Pro (cheap 'n crappy - I preferred the Zipstick, myself).

That said, I am an incredibly picky bugger, so you may just love it! :)

Ok thanks, never heard of Zipstick, where can I get one of those?

Where can I get a cable to connects a real c64 joystick to a pc, can't remember the name of it? ;)

I have a Boss joyctick and i prefere that over tac2 :P

Here's a new one:

You can pick others up fairly cheaply, though. There are fake ones around too (believe it or not) which are non-micro-switch! Grrrrrr!

Only real way to tell is by seeing a picture from the side. Fake ones have the buttons sitting much lower down in the case.

Ugh - I'm such a sad geek... I sicken myself! :duh:

I don't know where to find the converter you're on about, but I think the Cat Weasel card can do this (and a bunch of other things)...

Deon van der Westhuysen made a converter called PPJoy. My girl played Fire & Ice under WinUAE Amiga emulator & Win ME with a C64-Joystick=>PC Parallel Port converter.
But there is a load of other interfaces available. Have a look around.

Link to actual page: http://www.geocities.com/deonvdw/Docs/PPJoyMain.htm

BTW.: I would deactivate those triangular buttons permanently by cutting wires. I've never seen any use for them other than being pressed accidentally.

There's also the Stelladaptor that will connect a 9-pin joystick to the PC

Personally I had a Comp Pro USB for two years and it was good... until the shaft came undone

The competition pro replica looks the same, but feels different than the original. Everything is a bit more ramshackly. The slideway of the buttons has too much allowance so they sometimes tend to cant during action. The stick can rotate around its axis, which is an annoyance. I ordered a couple last year, the first one broke after two gaming sessions (stick came off). They sent me a replacement no problem, but in conclusion the USB version is miles away from the original quality.

Tonka: the Zipstick was in fact the Competition Pro plus.

Yeah - I vaguely remember someone telling me once that it was the same company, although it *feels* completely different (much harder, better quality plastic).

My parents bought me a Zipstick in 1987, and I still use it! It's seen obscenely lengthy gaming sessions on my C64, Amiga and then C64 again (including severe batterings with Combat School) and still works as well as the day I got it!

I love my Zipstick! ;)

Anyone up for the task, I'll pay, If not to much

I guess it will be hard to get the hardware stuff for the cable...? connectors and stuff...

i have one of those "pc competitor"-cables and it's nice. nowadays, with no gameport on my pc anymore, i have to connect it to a usb-to-gameport adapter, but no prob.

as they are not available anymore, i think the best solution for you would be the amiga-4-player-adapter which can also be plugged into the parallel port of the pc (as mentioned by vosla). you can then connect two oldschool-joysticks to your pc, after having installed the ppjoy-driver.

this cable can be bought by vesalia (first item). it's pretty cheap, but you have to ask what the shipping costs.

you know, i'm addicted to "kick off 2" and so are others who are gathering at ko-gathering.com.
there are several threads about this topic like this one and a wiki-entry about joysticks/adapters. obviously this shop offers "pc-competitor"-like cables too.

Thanks :D

That "Two Amiga joysticks to Printer Port Adaptor" looks very promising :D
I also have to check if I have a parallell port ;) or I will order a parallell 2 usb adapter too ;)

I have emailed them and asked how much everything will cost in the end ;)

I found a Catweasle card here in sweden and it costs 895 SEK but they were out :/
One of those would also be good to connect a amiga drive to the pc :D
Also to put a SID chip in it :D

Did anyone ever use the Cheetah mach 1 joystick? It was flimsy as hell but i could play better with that than any other joystick, especially Kick Off 2. :)
