Recommendations for a BIT Live / Sid rookie

Post by oneone2029 »

Hi Guys,

In the 4 hours it'll take me to get to Brighton, I'll be playing a selection of c64 remixes to my GF to give her an idea of what Sat's going to be about.

So, any recommendations of essential listening from the experts ?

I've got a fair idea what to tape, but I may miss some obvious ones.

Also, I'm going to stick to remixes rather than pure SID, so any recommended remixes from kwed would be a bonus :)

He he, I've tried that too. Last year my wife and I went on holiday and we listened to Instant Remedy's album on perpetual loop :) she started to really get into it. I don't think she (any many other people for that matter) even realise the songs are not just commercial music. I have such a bizarre taste in music that Sid remixes seem pretty normal to her :)

Not sure what I will be listening to this time round, on the way to Brighton that is. Perhaps I'll give Chris's Crystal Dreamscape's a blast (she liked that one too :)

Well she likes commercial bands who use Sid in their songs, Welle Erdball, Tarmvred, Apoptygma Berzerk etc so I might be lucky.

It was more as a kind of emergency refresher course. You know what it's like if you go to watch a gig when you don't know the band, it can get boring and the songs feel like they're never ending :)

At least if she's heard some of the stuff in the mornimg that gets played at the event it should help .

She'd enjoy the first act more if she's heard Nexus 6581 :)

The first act is playing:

Deflektor
Pimple Squeezer
Way of the Exploding Fist
Thanatos
Paperboy

Heh. Exactly how introvert would it be to have "SID girl/Miss SID of the week"? I've found that women reaching into domains mostly frequented by men often are worshipped like godesses (even a plain girl seems like the most attractive you can think of because she shares your interests) or told to get lost (because this is "our" neighbourhood).
