Re: Advice needed on audio hardware

I got one of these a few months ago mainly for vocal recording with my laptop, but am now using it with my desktop PC as well. Built in pre-amps and limiter/compressor, etc. Sounds no better or worse than my Audiophile 2496 and has direct monitoring, built in midi etc... I think it looks cute, too. ...

Re: Is this experience using 'real' hardware or not?

If you experienced the PET as I did back at school then the overall clunky and unwieldy feeling is badly missed using an emulator. The lack of physical presence, of the enormous twin disk station... the emulation just felt 'Meh... another old machine' in comparison. Emulating a PET on the C64 is di...

Re: 5 Best Pc games According to you.

Well the ones I played on longest are...

Doom
Resident Evil 4
Half Life(s)
GTA3
Descent (old skool baby)!

I tend to prefer the console versions of many of these, but most originated on the PC!

Re: Digital MIDI-capable synthesizer on the cheap !

SY85 is a fantastic synth for the price. Decent sequencer, sample (wav) import, built in storage (floppy drive), good fx, nice resonant filters - good all round workstation. Was used extensively on Bjorks' 'Debut' and 'Post' albums.

I'd go for that one (well, I did)! :D

Re: NEW USB SID SYNTH for sale!!!

Most examples of the bug can be heard in the timing of drum sounds in various SID's. It's kinda 'loose' sounding - like Ringo for your C64. :) I guess a good example would be 'Auf Monty' or 'I-ball'. Rob's routine seemed to suffer from it more in the later years, but TBH it doesn't even matter in Hu...

Re: NEW USB SID SYNTH for sale!!!

Very clever! :) When working with MSSIAH, I usually try to bypass the ADSR as much as possible and use the arp to regulate the decay of short sounds. So essentially with your idea, the sustain would always be set to maximum (so the osc is left 'ringing') and the midi would control the additional ADS...

The envelope bug of the SID chip would be easily circumvented by simply placing an analog VCA at the output triggering at the same time as the SID's oscillators... something I want to fiddle around with i think.
Huh? Could you explain this a little (or a lot) for me please?

Ebay man, EEEE-BAAYY! Though if you don't fancy spending peanuts on the most versatile 8-bit home micro as ever there was, you can always fire up the emulator and run the cracked-to-disk version of its predecessor, the Prophet 64. I've handily linked to it on a sub-page of mine, here: http://homepa...
